HeyπŸ‘‹

I'm Marvin Payne β€” a former EY consultant turned YouTuber and productivity & transformational coach.

My channel has grown to over 100.000 subscribers, and I now specialise in the inner work of productivity β€” something I see is missing in the productivity space, but something that, if worked on, will totally transform your life.

My JourneyπŸ”οΈ

I was born and raised in Oslo, Norway, and my parents are from Vietnam.

I have always been fascinated by the "inner work" when learning new things - that is, my mindsets, beliefs, my emotions, and my nervous system.

My Time During University

College for me was just about buying more time and freedom, so that I could explore more and learn more about myself.

I ended up taking a master's degree in finance, but that's the least important part.

During my time there, I went on many incredible inner journeys.

I went from a super shy guy, to getting out of my comfort zone, and becoming comfortable with socializing, both with friends, and new people.

I did two exchanges β€” one in Portugal, one in Mexico β€” and took a gap year between my bachelor's and master's, traveling around Europe and South America.

I learned way more about life from those journeys than from the degree itself.

Working Two Years as a Consultant in EY

During my master's, I still had no idea what I wanted to do with my life.

Start something of my own? Go the traditional route?

I had no clue, so I figured it couldn't hurt to go the traditional route and take it from there.

So I did, and I joined EY as a consultant.

That first year, I picked up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and got obsessed.

After one year of training, I won the biggest tournament in my country at my level.

Here too, I learned so much about life through the art of the sport.

I knew I wanted to try something different from the traditional consultant path, so I started making YouTube videos on the side β€” just sharing the life lessons I'd picked up so far.

Six months later, I had 50,000 subscribers. What in the world, I thought.

Because of the traction β€” and my curiosity to try something other than the traditional work life β€” I quit EY after 1.5 years to pursue the channel.

Two Years as Self-Employed

Not long after quitting, I decided to do something that's been on my bucket list:

To work online while traveling the world.

So that's what I did.

I went to South-East Asia β€” mainly Thailand β€” for about six months, working on my business and living the digital nomad life.

Amazing experiences. But I noticed it wasn't actually the lifestyle for me.

My nervous system was dysregulated by the constant moving and unfamiliar places.

So I came back to Oslo, and I've been building my roots here for the past year.

Since coming back, I've also gone through a complete inner transformation.

The short version?

After chasing external success for so long, I finally felt the inner peace and joy I'd been unconsciously looking for the whole time.

Jim Carrey had a fantastic quote on this

"I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it's not the answer."

Through the inner work, I went from "chasing, "trying", using "discipline, to just... being.

I'm just being my fully authentic self, unapologetically, and things have never felt this effortless.

My MissionπŸ“œ

I realized that, underneath the chase for external results, was really just a yearning to be my full authentic self with no shame.

And after actually going through that transformation, I realized that all the success I'd ever get in the future would just lead me back to that exact feeling.

It was one of the best feelings I'd ever had in my life.

And interestingly, it was just like I'd finally come home.

I'm not pushing or grinding anymore.

I'm just expressing myself from this place β€” and the world seems to rearrange around who I am.

I also believe that the only way for anyone to truly outperform is to be their full authentic self.

That is your unfair advantage.

Like Naval Ravikant said:

"You can escape competition through authenticity when you realize that no one can compete with you on being you."

So that is my mission.

For everyone to find their true authenticity.

So they can get what they've actually been yearning for underneath all the chasing of external success.

To live the life they always wanted.

And to ultimately make the world a better place.
